Honduras and Costa Rica

Image
Hello there, I've tested the two of them, but first I'll describe methodology. Every coffee get three notes, they are very subjective, well, those are on a scale of 1 to 5 and relate to types of coffee, which are alternative (usually brewed  in Chemex), espresso and latte. To be honest, for alternative one is average note of mine and my girlfriend, latte is her opinion and espresso clearly mine. The last thing, Alternative method: 89°C of water temperature, 30 g of grinded coffee (always the same size), extraction time: max. 4 min. Honduras SHG: Taste profile (by Roaster room): almonds, dark chocolate, sweetness of peach. Opinion: Alternative= 3,5/5, Espresso=1/5, Latte=0/5. Why: The taste in espresso was awful, but coffee was brightroasted (only in this case), so its destination was Alternative, nothing personal :). Kostaryka SHB: Taste profile (by Roaster room): dark chocolate, nuts, clove(!). Opinion: Alternative= 3/5, Espresso= 4, Latte= 4. Why: This clove was so...

Hello there, Like I said in the last update, today I'll review a pack of 10 different coffees. I've bought it in a haphazard way, well... I wanted something new and fresh, this Roaster room has been totally unknown by me.  The list of coffees: Nikaragua SHG (Nicaraguan one) Exclusive Blend (blend of Arabic and Robust coffee 9/1) Kostaryka SHB (of Costa rica) Peru HB MCM Salwador (from El Salvador) Kolumbia Excelso (Colombian) Kongo Kivu (Congo) Etiopia Djimmah (Ethiopia) Brazylia Santos (Brazil) Honduras SHG The truth is, those are different of description from their website... Exactly three of them. Other thing which I'm rating among cons is fault of roast grade at packaging. To be true I can say that the first impression is very negative: late sending, not exactly the same products like in description, fault of roast grade description. I hope that the taste will be a huge pro to compensate me for those cons. That's all, Next I'll review 2 or ...

Accidental coffee

Image
Hello there, I've ordered coffee beans, but supplier didn't send it at the right moment... so I've to wait. Well this is introduce to next post, which will be a comparison of 10 kinds of coffee from all of the world, but roasted in Wroclaw. Nowadays this city has so much coffee-roasted rooms, I think, the most number of Poland. They've to work with organisation, because it's at a very low level. The story starts here, I was shopping in one of Swedish stores and suddenly in front of my eyes appeared freshly roasted coffee... well, that was novelty of this shop, like it said personnel. There were three kinds of coffee: Columbia, Chocolate and Gorilla. I'm kind of curious person, so the choice was simply: Gorilla. The truth is that it isn't kind of my favorite coffee :(. With milk it is possible to drink, but like espresso shot it's terrible and the same is with mokka expres, in french press is quite good. I'm waiting for delivery, I hope it will be...

Coffee mug

Image
Hello there,    Have you ever noticed that the cost of mug can starts over 10 zł (3$)? Well, the question is why it has not an ending prize? At first, we have to divide categories of mugs, because it can be at least produced of every material: paper, ceramic, metal, plastic, aluminium and all of kind materials that is impermeable to water. I will not write about papers ones, because their cost is lower than 10 zł and we can find it everywhere. How about ceramic? Nowadays, ceramic is common material, well is in fashion. You can buy it everywhere, but if you need it to go, you can easily buy it with a silicone lid. The cost starts of 49 zł, it has its points like: is in fashion, there is a lot of patterns. The negative features are more like: is heavy, uncomfortable, if it is fulled with hot water, it's burning, fragile.      And plastics ones are in the middle of this comparison, because are not so fragile like ceramic, but can't keep a warm so long like me...

Autumn :(

Hello there, The weather isn't inviting to go for a walk o something like that, so we've to stay at home... But it's time of experiments :). Coffee is not all the world, we can start to find new tastes, for example in tea. Well, sincerely, I am not a fan of tea, but when is so cold, this idea of dried fruits in hot water in my mind is warming up all my body. I don't want to review a tea, because I don't drink it so much, but I want to encourage you to search the new ways of drinking, not only methods, but all kind of propositions. I mean, for example, now is pumpkin's season, so I've decided to bake a pumpkin cake. Well, it wasn't so delicious, but hey it was only an experiment, it good to say that as addition to coffee it was quite eatable. Another thing is butter beer or hot chocolate with whipped cream and cherry in the top. Why not? This year is passing slowly, so we have to do something new to accomplish it good. I'm not saying about something...

New coffee has arrived :)

Image
Hello there, Today, I want to give you a short review of coffee which I recently bought. Well, exactly I've bought two different coffees, first one is a blend of robusta (Indie Cherry AAA) with another blend of arabicas (Colombia Finca Rafael, Brazil Alfenas Dulce, Guatemala Finca Carolina, dark roasted one. Its destination is be brewed by express machine :). Ratio is 40 to 60 (robusta to arabica), according to robusta it has a sweeter taste. I've done it in my machine with factors: Dose 17 g, Ratio 2:1, Temperature of  out-coming water: 91°C, Time: 26 s. I'd drunk it before and I wanted to do an experiment with a new one recipe, so that looks on a diagram: That is only my opinion, I'm not a professional coffee tester. Well, that what impressed me was a crema, because was very rich and so fluffy :). The taste that I feel is caramel and chocolate. It's a very good morning coffee if we need a very quick wake up. The other one that I chose, but in this case to a...

Brewing methods part 2

Image
Hello there,  Like I promised, today I'll write about pour-over methods of coffee brewing. Well, how we know from last post: the most important thing to get the best taste of coffee is unite all the factors: temperature, pressure, dose, size of grounded beans etc.  At first, in this type of methods it's very important to get a good coffee grinder (cheaper option, but not always worse: hand one; more expensive: electric one). So, if we've a coffee grinder, we've to set it. For example in case of good electric grinder 1/4 of first regulation is reserved for espresso/mokka (10 of 40 grades), it's mean that we can experiment with all the rest. In case of hand coffee grinder is not so simple, because in marketplace are only few models which can ground coffee for espresso and cost of them it's similar to electric one, so it depends of your model which grade is the best. Why grinder is so important? First, pour-over methods need the same size of grounded coffee. Sec...
